Jennifer Johnson, a Certified Aging-in-Place Specialist (CAPS), has served as the Executive Director of Wild Rivers Habitat for Humanity for over eight years. Under her leadership, the organization has been revitalized financially and strategically positioned as a leader in housing initiatives across the region. Jennifer is passionate about creating opportunities for affordable housing and fostering sustainable community development.
Prior to her role at Wild Rivers, Jennifer spent seven years as a local association executive director with the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB). During her tenure, she cultivated partnerships within the homebuilding industry, advocated for housing affordability, and supported workforce development initiatives. This experience has equipped her with a deep understanding of housing challenges and industry dynamics, which she applies to her current role.
With a focus on innovation, Jennifer has spearheaded programs like a tool library to support local projects, promoted careers in construction through initiatives like the Girls Build program, and launched job shadowing opportunities in partnership with UW-Stout. She is also dedicated to empowering individuals by integrating educational components into housing support programs, such as the Rent Smart initiative, in collaboration with UW Extension.
Jennifer's efforts extend to improving veterans' housing access and support, exemplified by her work with the Housing Programs Specialist to assist veterans with benefit enrollment and housing repair projects. Her organization incorporates Person-Centered, Trauma-Informed (PCTI) principles into its programming, ensuring compassionate, effective service delivery.
