Local Area Agencies on Aging, also known as AAAs, offer resources to help older adults maintain a quality of life. Services range from home meals, and caregiver support, legal aid, and more. Some AAAs choose to fund home repairs and modifications to help older adults age in place.

In this case study-style webinar, Coalition member Rebuild Upstate will co-present with their local Area Agency on Aging, the South Carolina Appalachian Council of Governments. Tim Womack, Aging Services Director at SCACOG, will share the AAA perspective on investing in home repairs and modifications for older adults.

In 10+ years of partnership, the SCACOG has invested $1.92M in home repairs and modifications for South Carolina’s older adults with Rebuild Upstate. The SCACOG offers education and advocacy for home repair and modification funds for older adults, particularly for state-level funding in South Carolina.

Webinar Agenda:

  • case study on developing a partnership with their AAA
  • tips on starting a relationship with your AAA
  • the nature of the funding relationship (grant processes, contract, etc.) and program operations
  • open Q&A with the RU and AAA representatives

This will be a Q&A-style webinar with short presentations and plenty of space for member questions, particularly those who are interested in replicating a similar partnership in their local community.
