Webinar: HUD Veterans Grant Information
Pass-through funding opportunity
HUD has announced the Veterans Housing Rehabilitation and Modification Pilot Program (VHRMP) notice of funding opportunity.
Most of our members aren't eligible to apply on their own, as you must serve nationally, or serve an entire state. Therefore, the Coalition for Home Repair will be applying for this grant with interested members. Those who would like to apply for the grant with us need to attend this webinar or watch the recording afterward.
Timeline:
- July 20 - Coalition webinar about VHRMP grant
- Aug 3 - interest form due to Coalition (the form will be available on July 20)
- Aug 17 - letter of firm commitment due to Coalition (a template will be available)
- Aug 24 - grant application due to HUD (Coalition will submit)
- Sept 15 - HUD announces grant recipients
- Feb 3, 2023-Feb 2, 2025 - VHRMP program (if funded)
We applied last year and weren't awarded, but with the feedback that we received from HUD about our application, believe that we have a very good chance of being successful this year.
Last year, we had 22 organizations applying for $1 million with us (that is the maximum award). This was funding for 80 projects for Veterans with disabilities at $10K each over the course of 3 years - so, 3-4 projects per nonprofit, 1-2 projects per year. The amount per project may be different this year, and number of organizations interested will likely change as well, meaning that the number of projects funded for each nonprofit may be different. The grant would also fund a new Coalition employee to provide training and technical assistance to the members participating.
A 50% match for the funds is required from the subrecipient (we may be able to include volunteer hours as part of this), and leveraged funds may also be required. If awarded to the Coalition, each participating nonprofit would have to submit information about the home to HUD via an online portal prior to beginning work; this is the environmental review process. You can learn more about all of this in the webinar.
Register even if you can't attend in order to receive the recording.
