New for 2022: Fundraising Bootcamp

Posted By: Becca Davis News,
We are excited to organize a new cohort to help home repair nonprofits generate more revenue. This bootcamp will be a comprehensive overview of fundraising for nonprofits. Normally a four-day experience, it has been re-configured as a series of six 90-minute Zoom meetings. Register now!

Attendance at most meetings will be expected but all sessions will be recorded for those who have to miss a class. The cohort will meet via Zoom on the first Tuesday of each month from 10:30am-12:00pm ET. The meeting dates are April 5, May 3, June 7, July 5, Aug 2, and Sept 6.

The best way for an organization to benefit from the bootcamp is to have the Executive Director, Director of Development, and a Board Member take the class together. The course is suitable for those new to fundraising and those with experience. It wil be an overview of the entire field of fundraising and how to put it into practice.

The bootcamp training outline:
  • April - Introduction to Fundraising
  • May - Annual Fund
  • June - Major Donors
  • July - Planned Giving
  • Aug - Endowments & Earned Income
  • Sept - Grantwriting

The course will be led by Alex Comfort (CFRE) of Mountain Non-Profit Solutions. Alex is a Certified Fundraising Executive (CFRE) who has 36 years of experience in the field. He has been a national capital campaign consultant, worked at a social service agency and in higher education, served executive director of a $2.5 million agency with 400 summer employees, and has spent the last 11 years as a nonprofit consultant. He was awarded the “Outstanding Fundraising Professional Award” in 1995 by the AFP Chapter of Greater New Orleans and also in 2010 in AFP Western North Carolina. Known for public speaking, humor, and emphasizing the practical, he is a highly sought-after teacher. In 2020 he published his first book, Even a Blind Squirrel Finds an Occasional Acorn: Fundraising Tales from the Front Lines. Alex has been teaching this course since 2013.

At the end of the bootcamp (in September), participants will enjoy a 90-minute bonus class on grantwriting with Ginger Keller-Ferguson of KFA Nonprofit Funding Solutions. Those who are interested will be able purchase her self-paced online grant writing course at a 75% discount ($250; it's usually $999).

We hosted an informational webinar about this fundraising bootcamp on February 18. You can watch the recording if you'd like to get to know the presenters a bit. Register now!
